Installation Guidelines – Submersible Well Pumps

Proper installation is essential for correct pump performance and long service life.

Basic Requirements

  • Always use a control box or pump controller
  • Do not connect the pump directly to the power supply
  • Install an output filter between controller and motor (recommended for long cable runs)
  • Check power cable and joints before installation
  • Use proper waterproof cable splicing kit
  • Install the pump vertically inside the well
  • Use a safety rope to secure the pump
  • Never suspend the pump by the electric cable
  • Use clean water only (no sand or debris)

Electrical Protection (Important)

For installations with long cable length:

  • Install a motor protection filter (output filter / dv/dt filter)
  • This protects the motor from voltage spikes and electrical stress
  • Reduces risk of motor damage and insulation failure

Failure to install proper protection may lead to motor failure.

System Design Considerations

Pump performance depends on:

  • Total dynamic head (depth + discharge height)
  • Pipe size and length
  • Voltage stability
  • Correct controller and protection system
  • Cable length and electrical protection

Incorrect installation may cause:

  • Low water flow
  • Motor overheating
  • Electrical damage
  • Pump failure

These issues are not product defects.
